LOU MARS DRUMS HIS WAY TO HOLLYWOOD WITH DIXON DRUMS VIDEO CONTEST

Dixon is proud to announce the results of their recent “Drum Your Way to Hollywood” video contest. The contest, which enticed nearly fifty drummers of all ages and skill levels to visit their local Dixon dealer and record a 2-minute video showing off their skills on a Dixon Demon drum set, logged over 25,000 views on YouTube in just a few short weeks. Contestants were judged based on originality/creativity, skilled performance and overall appeal. The grand prizewinner — Lou Mars, filmed his winning submission at Herreid Music in Chico, California. Dixon flew Mars to Hollywood for the chance of a lifetime — to perform with a live band at Westlake Studios and star in Dixon’s upcoming ARC Channel special, scheduled to premiere on December 5th. The show, titled Drum Your Way to Hollywood, will air on ARC through January 31, 2009. Mars performed in front of several industry heavy hitters including:
- Matt Messina: Composer for film and television, original symphonies and an active drummer. Recent composing credits include composer on the movie Juno.
- Mike Frondelli: Seasoned engineer/producer. Credits include The Plácido Domingo 40th Anniversary Gala, mixed FarmAid and audio producer for On Stage at The World Cafe Live. Additionally, Michael has recently recorded concerts for Chicago & Earth, Wind & Fire.
- Bobby Owsinski: Producer and composer, Bobby has worked on more than 200 surround projects and DVD productions for Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, The Ramones, and Chicago, among many others.
- Mike Burns: Grammy nominated music producer, songwriter and owner of A&R Select – the leading Artist Development firm in Los Angeles.
- Mark Bistany aka Moke: Formerly drummer Puddle of Mud, Hed PE
In addition, Mars also took home a new Dixon Outlaw series drum set, full complement of Dixon hardware and a set of Sabian Cymbals. The top five finalists will each receive a Dixon snare drum. Congratulations to: John Maguire and Paul
